Inkosikazi is the isiZulu word for a woman of stature. In its older usage, the word carried a particular weight. It described not only a wife of a chief, but any woman whose presence in a room rearranged the room around her. The bag is named for her.
The piece is structured. Where other bags in the house relax, Inkosikazi holds its shape. The leather is heavier, the form deliberate, the proportions chosen to read as confident across a long distance. Hardware is solid brass, hand finished, kept simple. There are no logos applied. The bag does not need to introduce itself.
Inside, the bag carries the items of a working day with room to spare. A laptop fits, a notebook, the small items that travel with a person who is the deciding voice in many rooms. There is one interior pocket for things that should not be searched for. The lining is suede.
A handle on top for the short distances. A removable strap for the longer ones. The bag can be carried on the shoulder or in the hand, depending on the kind of room being entered.
